Retro Gaming Library

By viljami - Posted on 08 February 2010

If you're interested in retro gaming you might be interested to know that some of the Fukui city employees have put together a TV Game Library located near Fukui station on the first floor of the Shimin Gallery called えきまえKOOCAN.

They have 5 different game "consoles" (PC engine, Sega Mega Drive, NEO-GEO, Sega Saturn and DreamCast) connected to TVs and people can simply loan and play games on the spot. They have about 130 games including such classics as Bomberman, Sonic The Hedgehog and Garou Densetsu (The Legend of the Hungry Wolf, better known as Fatal Fury).

The organizers received all the games and the consoles from city employees, and as their manufacture and sales has already finished they also received permission from the original makers. A city employee who has liked gaming since their childhood was the first to suggest the idea and it was realized with the help of co-workers and their families.

The Library will stay open until the end of March so if you're interested be sure to take a look before it finishes!
