Cindy Chen
Hi, everyone! I am a soon-to-be third year Cho-ALT living in Ono City, meaning you won't see me at most of your prefectural-ALT events. I do, however, teach at 11 different elementary schools and will be able to give you plenty of advice about keeping 30 five-year-olds amused for 45 minutes. I'm also an expert in procrastination, washing dishes, dodging bees, and being Asian. So if you have questions concerning any of those, don't hesitate to drop me a line.
Keep dancing, |
Omar Mohamed
Greetings! I will soon be entering my second year here as a Fukui Prefectural ALT. I work at a private SHS and JHS here in Fukui City. While I don't have Cindy's wonderful command of the Japanese language or her long years of service ;) , I do know a thing or two about Fukui city and the surrounding areas and am always free if you're up for grabbing a drink/coffee/bite to eat. My interests include photography, cycling, skiing, hanging out (good music/people/movies/times) oh and being lazy. So, if you're up for joining me for any of these, just give me a shout. Questions, comments, concerns are always welcome.
Cheers,

Ashley Jill Murphey Hi! I'm Ashley Jill, but please call me Jill if you can pronounce it correctly, or AJ if that's easier. I am from America (California for fifteen years and Illinois for eight), but no cheeseburgers or guns for me. I like boats, anchors and swearing, so maybe I should be a sailor or a pirate instead of an ALT. This year Nicole and I promise to bring the Social and the Sex (although that is pronounced secs) to all of you in FJET!! Get excited! ~Jill |

Nadia Sobehart
I'm Nadia. Made in Argentina, assembled in America, I'm in love with all things music and exploring new cultures. I love traveling, getting lost on adventures, learning and experiencing new things, and just.. living I guess! Feel free to join my voyages. They may involve awkward and otherwise crazy moments, but, as you will soon learn, that is a huge part of life in Japan. In my second year as an ALT in the rice fields of Maruoka, I plan to enjoy the little quirks of life here. If you need to talk or just hang out, give me a call! I might be in denial that Fukui weather is unpleasant, but I will certainly help you out if you're stuck in a blizzard or melting in the summer sun. Welcome to Fukui! Anything really is possible.

This year Nadia and I will be organizing some great events to benefit Smile Kids Japan, and we'll also be letting you know about various things happening throughout the prefecture. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! |

Anna Ho
That being said, my name is Anna and I help coordinate orphanage visits in Fukui with my wonderful area coordinators, Conor Mooney and Greg Werner. I'm a third year ALT from California and I miss Mexican food like you wouldn't believe. Oh, I also miss sunshine throughout the year and no humidity, but that's too much to ask for in a care package. I bake a mean rainbow cake and enjoy cooking in general. ...I can kick pretty high for someone who has no reason to? I've had a good run in Fukui thus far and hope to have another great year with all of you! :] I've been told I'm a great listener and a Brain Witch, so have at it. |
Meredith Smith & Madeline Horne
Family Net is not a homestay program, but more of a neighborhood friend program. It's all about cultural exchange and we have quite a few families who are excited to befriend you, help you ease into the Fukui lifestyle and tell you all about the various wonders here. Of course, they're looking forward to learning about your home and culture, too. If you're interested in being matched with a host family during your time in Fukui, drop Mad and me an email at fjet.familynet@gmail.com!

Heyo, my lovely Fukui-ians! Becky here, and yes there are two of us, but just remember me as "Becca." New Yorker born and raised, so I guess that prepared me well for the dirty south. I've had an affinity for all things Japanese since I was a kid (even though I'm completely Puerto Rican), so of course I would end up moving here. Living out in Oi-cho right now, a.k.a. the greatest little town you will ever come across here in the Fu! I have the chance to play and run around with adorable Japanese children, while representing the greatness of the Reinan area. I'm always here though for the Southerners as well as all you fabulous Northerners. Let's party rock together all across Fukui onegai shimasu. |

Hi, my name's Lindsay! I'm from British Columbia, Canada, and come August I'll be starting my third year as a JHS ALT in Fukui City. I love taking pictures, reading, and being outside, but during the long, snowy Fukui winters I live under my kotatsu and spend all my time knitting.
Hey all! My name's Meredith (Michigan, USA), and my partner Madeline (Melbourne, AU) and I — should you choose to accept the challenge of becoming friends and cultural ambassadors — are here to introduce you to some awesome Fukui natives!
Hi. My name's Stuart. I arrived in Fukui from Scotland in 2010. I live in the East side (the ghetto side) of Fukui City. This makes my life as the FJET treasurer a challenge. But thanks, in part, to the barbed wire fences, german shepherds and laser security systems, you can be sure the FJET money is safe with me. I'm also East block leader and a member of the Peer Support Group for JETs Nationwide, so if you want to talk confidentially about anything that's bothering you, I'm always here for you, along with your PAs.
Hello, folks! I'm Greg, the webmaster. I'm from the east coast of the United States, and I have MASTERED THE WEB. I'll do my best to make sure that the site doesn't go down any more than once or twice a week, MAX. If you've got any questions or anything about the site, if you want information about anywhere north of Fukui city, or you just wanna play some card, board, or video games, make sure to drop me a line at

Hi! The name's David, though you can call me Dave, Davey, or D; just don't call me Shirley. I'm from New York City, though I had a long detour in midwest America before I came to Fukui. I live in Echizen town (not city, confusing I know) and I spend my time biking, reading, listening to music, and hanging out with the best crew in all of Japan. As first-year reps, Dan and I are always at your service. Feel free to drop me a line for whatever reason, whether it be to hang out, get some food, climb mountains in the middle of the night, or just vent.
Stay Golden!
